card patterns sketch #25

Happy Friday!! I am so glad the weekend is here!! I have my studio just about put together and I just want to relax!! Here is my take on this weeks card patterns sketch #25. I really like the card patterns sketches and I try to play along every week... mainly just to get the inspiration flowing. This weeks sketch had so many possibilities it took me all week just to make up my mind on what I wanted to do!! I'm sure I am the only one on the planet that takes forever making up their mind!! All supplies are from papertrey ink except for the swirl which I cut out on my cricut. I went for a softer look on this card mainly because when I was cleaning out my studio and going thru stuff I realized I hadn't used any of the tea leaves paper from papertrey ink yet!!! I've had it for months and it was just sittin' there saying "use me"!! I'm off to go work on my inspiration board.... I can't wait to get it done!!!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!!

Raspberry Suite color challenge #13

Hi there!! Sorry for my lack of posting all week.... I am totally blaming it on the summer!!! Also it's fair week here so it's been busy, busy, busy!!! I finally managed to find some time to finish up my raspberry suite challenge #13. When I first saw the colors, my first thought was "oh great, the dreaded red"!! Those of you who follow know that I really have a hard time with red. I can't help it, I'm not a red person!! What is so funny is every time I use it, I feel like it is starting to grow on me!!! The only red ink I own is riding hood red from stampin up.... I may have to break down and buy the pure poppy just for a bit of variety. On to my card...... I had to use my new in bloom flower again.... I LOVE this flower... oh yea I said that in the last post!! I can't help it!! You can do this flower in any color and it will look great! I stamped mine on berry sorbet cardstock with red riding hood ink three times and cut it out in three different layers and then adhered them together with dimensionals. Colored over the whole flower with my clear spica glitter pen. The leaves were stamped in spring moss ink onto spring moss cardstock and cut out. The white shape I cut using cricut & my storybook cartridge. I layered that onto a scrap of spring moss stamped with a damask designs background stamp. Layered those onto a pure poppy bitty boxes scrap edged with my apron lace punch. I then layered it all onto a white card that I zipped thru my cuttlebug with the damask folder. I added a few berry sorbet buttons for a little decoration and Voila!! finished card. I am still working on the perfect picture taking spot since I moved my studio.....

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!!

cps125

Hi there!! I haven't done a cps sketch in a few weeks so thought I would play along this week. I had to use my new flower from papertrey ink's new set "in bloom". I really can't stop using this set!! I wanted to make the card relatively simple to put the focus on the flower. I used some left overs on my desk from other projects... I have been really trying to use up my scraps before buying new paper. Just trying to simplify a bit. On a scrap of raspberry fizz left over from my die cut butterflies I stamped the flower three times in scarlet jewel ink. I then cut out three layers and used a dimensional in between each layer. I stamped the leaf on a ripe avacado scrap and cut out. the patterned paper I downloaded from 2peas.... it's rhonna farrer modern chintz i believe it is called. I swiss dotted a scrap of white and cuttlebugged another scrap with a label die. I had a piece of lime polka dotted ribbon that I used to tie around the card after layering all the pieces together. The sentiment is from the mixed messages set from papertrey ink inked with raspberry fizz. An over all fast, simple but elegant card and all made with scraps!!!! I'm off to finish a few more projects and finish up organizing my new studio...

thanks for looking and have a great day!!

card patterns sketch #24

Hey there!! I feel like I am finally knocking down my list and I have had more time to create. Here is my take on the card patterns sketch #24. I have been playing with the vine in the with sympathy set for the last few days and then my order from papertrey ink's new release came in the mail yesterday and I most definitely had to play with the floral set called "in bloom". Oh how I love the floral in this set. I stamped the largest flower in smokey shadow and colored with my copics (R30 & R32). I then cut out the flower and I dropped it on one of the pieces that had one of the vine stamped on it and what do you know... I liked it!!! So that was how this card went together. I also used the new papertrey ink polka dot basics II. I love these polkas more than the first one. It is definitely a must have!! I stamped the whole card front with them in versamark ink. I also sewed around the edges and then distressed with my trusted Heidi Swapp edge distresser before adhering to the card front. Ribbon is from Making Memories.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!! Lisa

Raspberry Suite color challenge #12

Hey there...... here is my take on Dawn's raspberry suite's color challenge #12. This was the first time I used the scarlet jewel color from papertrey ink and I must say it is beautiful!! I wasn't too sure about pairing it with spring moss or the raspberry fizz, but it kind of grew on me. I actually made a couple of different cards but this is the one I will go with. I used my favorite punch (again!!) on the bottom of the spring moss bitty box paper and then used spring moss buttons on the bottom. I used the vine from one of my very favorite sets "with sympathy". the little flower is from the "life" set and the happy birthday from the "birthday basics" set. I guess you could say I was in a mix or match mood!! That is one of the things I love about papertrey ink, the sets pretty much can be used with all the other sets. Changes things up a bit. Anyway, I stamped the vine in spring moss, the flower and sentiment in scarlet jewel, used a die cut butterfly in raspberry fizz and then decided to use my scarlet jewel bitty dots ribbon. Sorry for the bad picture.... I am trying to find the right light in my new studio. I am going to call it a night so thanks for looking and have a great day!!!

Jessica Sprague class

Hi all! No cards to share today... i am getting ready for my big yard sale this weekend and I can't wait to get that over with!! I signed up for Jessica Sprague's free class this week 'Photo editing: frame ups and special effects" and I tell you what I have been having a blast!! I bought myself photoshop 7 a month or so ago and I had no idea how to use it. I had bought all these really cool brushes and things from house of 3 (I love house of 3!!) and 2 peas and didn't have a clue on how to use them. So I was blog hopping last week and I saw the link for Jessica's class on (I think it was) Rhonna's blog, and I signed up right then and there. I have been playing with my photo's left and right!! I can't believe how easy it is!! This is what I did today.....

originalThis is one of my granddaughters when she was a baby...

and this is after I played....

I know the sweet cakes part is a little big right next to her head but give me a break ..I am a beginner and I am just playing!! I have heard of some people not being able to use the hof3 brushes with photoshop 7 but so far I have not had trouble... I save them to a folder on my desktop and they seem to work fine. The heart brush is from the sampler pack that came with the class and the font and floral swirl I got at 2peas.. it's from Rhonna... I love her stuff.. I just matched the colors from the baby's dress. I know I still have a lot to learn but boy am I having fun!!! Thanks Jessica and house of 3....

Raspberry Suite color challenge #11

Hi all!! Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!! I had an awesome week just relaxing and working in my garden. I did not create anything last week!! Summer is definitely upon us and I wanted to be outside!! So without further adieu here is my card I did for Dawn's raspberry suite challenge #11. I was a little stumped on this challenge mainly because of the red... I am not a red person and I find it very hard to use that particular color, so I decided to keep the red at a minimum. I used some stamps ( the damask & flower image...I can't remember the name of the set!) from october afternoon and stamped the damask image in versamark ink on the light gray cardstock. I then stamped the floral image in old olive, punched the butterflies with my martha stewart punches, punched the brackes from a punch I have from ek success, punched the bottom with my new favorite puch from fiskars, stamped the sentiment from papertrey ink, added bling to the butterflies and adhered it all together. This is basicly a one layer card and I didn't used ANY ribbon!!! I love how it turned out... just simple, sweet and a little elegant.

Well I'm off to go visit some family and then back to my garden... thanks for looking and have a great day!!

stamps: october afternoon, papertrey ink
ink: versamark, old olive (stampin up), true black ( pti)
