Blog candy alert!!

This post will stay on top until Wednesday March 31st so scroll down to see new posts.

I am in the celebrating mood so thought I would give away some candy:)
What am I celebrating? you ask.... well let's see....
 * It's my one year blog o'versary,
 * I have started my first design team post (Get Sketchy),
 * My first ever card published came out this month with the April Cards magazine (page 58) YAY!!
And there are many more reasons... mainly I am so thankful to those of you who take the time to comment. I am the worlds worst commenter... not because I don't want to but I am so short on time. Between my job, my computer not cooperating ( I've ordered a new one) and watching my granddaughters it is amazing I even get anything done :)
So a big shout out to all of you that make my day...

Here's the candy.............

(oops I cropped too close)
Yes that is my favorite stamp from hero arts that you are seeing. The first one I bought had a defect and through a chain of events I ended up with an extra one! I so wanted to add my cards magazine that I am supposed to receive but I haven't got it yet :( So one lucky winner will win this stamp along with a few more goodies that I had on hand. Just leave me any comment and tell me your favorite color ever on this page and I will draw a random winner next Thursday April 1st.. no foolin'!! Everyone is welcome!!

Thanks to all of you,

Lisa

card patterns #57

Happy Wednesday all!!

Here is a card I did for the card patterns sketch #57. I was challenged by a friend to make a one layered card and this is the closest I came......

It is a one layered card except for the sentiment but then I had to add a felt border and a couple of buttons. I also cut out the flowers that I inked in hibiscus and popped them up. Since this weeks sketch is sponsored by hero arts I thought I would break out some hero stamps. I used the long leaf flower border and a sentiment a clear set that I forgot the name of. The border I used is the edge of the felt after using my new rick rack die from papertrey ink. LOVE it!
I'll try and get a better pic on here... I am trying out some new lighting and haven't quite got it right yet! I am off to work so once again thanks for looking and have a great day!!

cards blog challenge

This weeks challenge on the cards blog was to use at least 8 colors.... yes you heard me... ur...  read me right ... 8 colors!! At first I wasn't going to play because I usually only work with a few colors at a time but I have been dying to use this piece of patterned paper from basic grey's nook & pantry collection. And wouldn't you know it it has 8 colors in it! Okay you have to look real hard but there is a tad bit of orange in the middle of the flowers on the top row :0) Hey it all counts!!  Since most of the work was done for me I simply added some scraps that were already on my desk... happy birthday tag, new leaf bitty dot ribbon, a prima flower and one of the leaf images that I cut out from papertrey ink's turning a new leaf set.  Fast & easy !!

Thanks also to those of you who let me know that I was "tweeted" on the hero arts blog..... cool! That was pretty much a shocker!! It was my bike cards that I featured here last week. And speaking of bikes makes sure you check out my blog candy here.
You have until Wednesday to comment......

Okay.. later friends... have a great weekend!!

On to the sketch for the week.........

And here is my take................

Okay, okay so I didn't make the little pendant thingy's. I tried but it was not flowin' the way I thought it should. So I used my all time comfort shape ... the butterfly of course. I positioned the wings so they would mimic the triangle/pendant shape. Sometimes you have to think out side of the box. I stamped the lace border from my new favorite technique tuesday lace border stamp. I used a "thank you" sticker from SRM stickers. I cut the flower off of another sticker image and layered it just under the sentiment.

So that's it. You need to head on over to Sherri's blog to continue the hop. Have fun hoppin' and have a great day!!
Oh and by the way my secret word is: SCRAPN'ART

Lisa

stamps: turning a new leaf, butterfly dreams(papertrey ink), lace border(technique tuesday)

2 sketches 4 you #48

Hi all!! I decided to play along this week with the 2 sketches 4 you sketch. This is the first time I have ever played with these sketches... I have seen this challenge before but just never got around to playing. So here is the sketch this week.........

And here is my take..........

I was trying to make a manly card and since manly cards are definitely not my strong point I thought I did ok. I kept it soft but not feminine and only added buttons and no bows. After I finished it I thought this would make a great sympathy card since it's so soft. Just change out the sentiment and you are good to go. I will post the deets below as I am short on time today!!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

Lisa

card patterns #56

I just had to play along this week with card patterns sketch #56. So many possibilities with this one.
here is my take.................

I decided to just do a straight ribbon across instead of the swirly thing. I wanted to used this patterned paper from prima and I didn't want to cut it or anything :) It is just too gorgeous! I stamped my favorite hero arts stamp in hibiscus on basic grey paper from the nook and pantry line. I made the little tissue flower and put a prima pebble in the middle. I got all my stuff at emma's paperie. The scalloped edge border is a punch from stampin up. The sentiment is from the everyday button bits set from papertrey ink.
Hope everyone is having a great week so far. I am totally enjoying the sunshine we are having!
Stay tuned later in the week for a little surprise.... it just might have something to do with my favorite bicycle :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

shabby tea room #1

If you haven't heard yet there is a new challenge blog on the block. It is called the shabby tea room and this week was their first challenge. Here is the inspiration............

Is this an awesome piece of inspiration or what!!?? Wish my dining room looked that pretty :)

Here is what I came up with................

Yes I know.... I have used this beautiful bike from hero arts twice this week... there is a method to my madness tho .... you'll just have to hang on to your seat!!

I stamped the bike in pure poppy, cut it out and lightly colored in the flowers with my copics. For the background I used one of my favorite lace borders from technique tuesday to stamp the grass in spring moss. I then used tape to mask the little flowers in the basket and stamped them one a time in pure poppy along the border of the grass. When you do this make sure you take the tape off after each inking before you stamp, otherwise it might not look so good :) I die cut a medium scallop border out of pure poppy bitty boxes paper, adhered to bottom of panel and inked around the edge with sweet blush. I added a dark chocolate twill strip and punch out a couple of branches from a stampin up punch and added some buttons to the top. The sentiment is from papertrey ink's everyday button bits set... I just curved it on my block to match the shape of the bike.

Well I'm off friends to finish up a few more things...
Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

cps 158

Happy Thursday! So glad the weekend is almost here! Had some time and thought I'd play along with this weeks card positioning systems sketch #158. Here is what I came up with...........

I have been dying to play with this cloud stamp from hero arts. I managed to snag it at 25% off when I went to the big city last. This bicycle stamp from hero arts is one of my all time favorite stamps and I have had it on my desk wanting to play with it again and so thought I would make a playful card. I have been seeing sooo many things with clouds & hills so thought I would try my hand at it. I really had fun with this one. I am totally getting addicted to cutting things out and the more I do it the better I get. You know... practice makes perfect :)

Stay tuned for tomorrow as the get sketchy blog hop get's under-way.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

moxie fab tuesday trigger

It's tuesday trigger time and this lovely chair is the trigger for the week. I had my card done and then realized I used hot pink instead of red!!! It really looked more pink on my monitor but as I was getting ready to upload all of a sudden it looked red! I can't figure that one out so I had to go back to the drawing board and this is what I came up with............

This card looks way better in real life. I am having problems with my photo software and so all my pics look a little off .
I used all papertrey ink goodness on this card. I will try and get back later to add the deets at the bottom as I am getting ready to go to work.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

card patterns #55

Hi all! Hope your weeek is off to a good start..... I thought I would play with the card patterns sketch this week. This is what I came up with............

One of my friends had her third baby girl last week and so I was in the baby girl card makin' mood. The image is from the baby button bits set from papertrey ink. I have had this set sitting very patiently on my desk since I bought it two months ago just waiting to be used. I have tried but you know how it is, sometimes the inspiration just isn't there when you want it to be. When I saw the sketch this week at card patterns it all just fell together. I am in love with this from my minds eye. It is the quite contrary line. I used a spellbinders label die to die cut the sentiment tag. I even broke out the sewing machine to add stitching.

My girlies are coming over so I am off.....

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

get sketchy #29

Hi all!! It's Get Sketchy time!! This is my first sketch with the Get Sketchy team and I couldn't be more excited!! Our sponsor for the week is The Stamping Boutique. We had three images to choose from and I went with the jump image. I thought this little girl was adorable! I printed her out on stamper's select white from papertrey ink, heat set the image and colored with my copics. Seen as how I don't color very often I didn't think I did a bad job! Definitely not Debbie Olson but not to shabby :) But I forgot to keep track of the colors I used..... I'll try to do better next time :)
I used my new My Mind's Eye paper from the quite contrary line and took my colors from that. I substituted a chipboard swirl for the arrow to make it a little more girly and stamped the sentiment from papertrey ink in dark chocolate. The background on the vintage cream card base is from the background basic tin types set from papertrey ink stamped in spring moss.

Thank You all for your kind words and encouragement.... they mean so much.

Take care and have a great day!!

fast & fabulous

Just a quick post to share a card I made a few weeks ago. It's one of my favorites even though it is just a simple card. I did it for the cards magazine fast & fabulous call they had a month or so ago and I had another card picked up instead of this one.
I love that large butterfly punch from Martha Stewart crafts.... I have used it tons. Butterflies are my favorite thing and I know I use them a lot. I stamped the leaf from turning a new leaf in spring moss and added some small rhinestone flowers from heidi swapp that I had in my stash. The sentiment is from the through the trees set and is stamped in berry sorbet.
Hope your week is going okay so far.... I can't hardly believe it is Wednesday already!!

As always thanks for looking and have a great day!!

card patterns sketch #53

Just a quick post so I can share my card patterns sketch #53. I have been having internet trouble so I haven't been able to get much done!!
Card patterns turned 1 this week so I wanted to say Happy Birthday Cardpatterns!!!! Cardpatterns was the very first sketch challenge blog I participated in when I started my blog last year. Love their sketches!! I was even guest designer one time!! Here is this weeks sketch......

Here is my take..........

Sweet & simple is what I call this one. I used my new technique tuesday lace border stamps for the background. Love these!!

I need to go as I am having internet trouble and don't want to get kicked off again!! I'll post the deets later.....

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

moxie fab tuesday trigger sweet on spring

I am so glad that I had the chance to play this week in the moxie fab tuesday trigger. I have been sooo busy the last couple of weeks that I didn't get the chance to play at the last two triggers :( But when I saw the picture for this weeks trigger I said oo la la this one is for me:)

Here is the trigger...........

Can you say HAPPY!! I love this picture and the colors just scream at me because they are my favorites ..... aqua mist, sweet blush, berry sorbet, summer sunrise a bit of hibiscus, a tad bit of orange zest and let's not forget a wee bit of spring moss. Total Moxie fab!!!!

So when I saw this picture I KNEW I had to make these crepe paper flowers that have been on my to do list.
Problem - I live in the sticks and the only crepe paper I can find is white and a few primary pastels that were not matching what I wanted.
So what does this girl do to fix the problem??? I dyed the white with the ink colors I wanted:) It takes a bit of time but I got the exact colors I was looking for.
So here is what I came up with............

This card totally makes me happy. I love how these flowers turned out. I just ran about 15 to 20 layers of crepe paper through my cuttle bug with this flower die and viola!! flowers in different sizes.  The two smaller flowers are from k&company that I have had for about a year and decided to use up. The chipboard "HI" are heidi swapp letters from my stash.

Enjoy your day and thanks for looking!!

I'm over the moon!!

If you haven't heard already I'll tell you now........... I am now on the design team for GET SKETCHY!!!!! EEEEKKKK!!! I am sooo excited!!! I am thankful to the Get Sketchy team for giving me this opportunity. I can't wait to get started.
This card was in the making before I heard the news so I will celebrate by posting it anyway!!
This is the sketch I was working on this week.....

I flipped this puppy upright because ummm well I wanted to :) I just felt that it looked better upright and this is what I came up with.............

I LOVE the new papers from Prima. I had to have this butterfly paper and I cut one of the butterflies out of the other butterfly paper I got. This card took about 10 minutes to make once I decided what I was going to do. I have been in a vintage mood and it definitely shows in this card. The buttons are from papertrey ink and I added some Jenni Bowlin pearls to the center of one. The others were tied with the silk ribbon that papertrey ink now carries. The sentiment is from the autumn abundance set and is one of my favorite all time stamps. I really love how this turned out.
So there you have it friends... my big news and a card to top it off.

So go on over to the Get Sketchy blog and give the new design team some love. I'm excited to see what is in store on this next adventure.
As always.... thanks for looking and have a great day!!!
