indian summer

I bought this lovely pad of basic grey indian summer paper a couple of weeks ago and I can't stop using it. The colors are so rich. I had stamped a bunch of the branches when I was working on the Japan pti challenge a couple of weeks ago so I thought I would try a fallish one.... and it was perfect for this weeks mojo sketch. I inked the leaves with first summer sunrise, more mustard, hibiscus & scarlet jewel .... in that order. When you get to the darker colors just pat a little around the edges ... kind of like the rock n roll technique but make some of the leaves a little darker. I absolutely loved the way it turned out. I wish my picture looked better.... I don't know why when you upload to blogger the picture really losses it's quality...

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

short and sweet

I know I've been M.I.A. the last couple of weeks... life just throws you curve balls sometimes... hope you all understand!! I did manage to make a couple of cards the other day and have been trying to get them uploaded for three days now!! Time just flies!! So here is the one I made for the cps sketch this week..... i used the indian summer line from basic grey. I LOVE this line. The colors are so awesome.... I embossed the vintage cream cardstock with a cuttlebug embossing folder to match the leaves and used one of the felt stickers as the focal point. The sentiment is from papertrey ink's autumn abundance set. I'll post the deets below......

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

paper trey ink Challenge#1 Japan

Hi all!! Just wanted to pop in and post my challenge card for the papertrey ink world cardmaking day challenge #1 Japan that Nicole posted on her blog. When I think of Japan I always think of blossoms and so it was a no brainer for me to do cherry blossoms. I used the pti set out on a limb. I stamped the branch in dark chocolate on vintage cream cardstock. For the cherry blossoms I used my water color crayons from stampin up to give ita softer watercolor feel. The bird is from a memory box set that I have had for awhile but I don't know what it is called...... I stamped the bird in aqua mist. I wanted to use one of the birds from the birds of a feather set but it was too big for the look I wanted .... but I did use a sentiment from that set. I used a stamp from my collection for the background with some Japanese writing. To keep in tune with the soft look I was trying to achieve, I stamped the writing with champagne versamark dazzle just on the left side of the card and on the left side of the image. Wow I really like the subtle effect! After I assembled my card I stitched a couple of lines with my sewing machine... and yes I intended them to be crooked!!! I am happy the way it turned out!

Have a great day and thanks for looking!!

happy world card making day!!!

Hi all! Just wanted to pop in a little early for world card making day!! I have been SWAMPED and have barely had time to even sit down. I haven't even had time to play with all my new stamps from the last papertrey ink release but I do plan on doing that tomorrow!! I mean it IS world card making day and what else are you supposed to do?? har har!!... I did this card in a snap using the new petite papers by websters pages. I love love love these papers!!! I followed this sketch from unscripted sketches .. I love sketches...sure makes it easy!! I stamped the background a little sporatically using background basics text style from papertrey ink with vintage cream ink. The sentiment is from the new Signature Christmas set. I did manage to ink up a few from this set up for all my sentiments. The rest of the card is all papers from the petite pack called the holiday collection pack. I got mine over at Ellen's store and she is having a sale this weekend so pop on over ...... the code is on the front page.

Hope you all have a great world card making day ....
