card patterns sketch #17 flips for vintage

No matter what I did I could not get a good picture today so the one side looks darker than it is.. sorry about that!!
I absolutely love this birdcage image from unity stamp co.!! It is my favorite from the may kit of the month and I wanted to use it for the card patterns sketch but it didn't look right the original way that the sketch was..... so I flipped it. This is actually the first time I flipped a sketch and I am lovin' this new possibility!! I had a scrap of paper on my table and one thing led to another... and my card turned out totally different than I intended!! I ended up with a more vintage look than I was aiming for but I love the way it turned out.. After I stamped my main image with dark chocolate ink, I distressed the edge with my Heidi Swapp edge distresser. I stamped portions of text from the new papertrey ink text style in sweet blush over my image... it comes out light but gives it a little "something", I then took a copic marker that matched the sweet blush (R30) and hightlighted a few of the words. I aged the edge with the new chamomile ink from papertrey ink (the aged duo) and used my spica pen to highlight the birds (I love those birds... I WISH they would make a set with the birdcages and the bird separate so you can mix or match... I can always wish, right?) I layered it on a berry sorbet scrap and layered that on a vintage cream card that I ran thru my cuttlebug with the damask folder. I used an old my mind eye asparagas scrap and tied a vanilla taffeta ribbon around. On the end part I stamped the label image from the papertrey ink recipe box label set in dark chocolate and cut out, adhered it to the card with dimensionals and added a few berry sorbet buttons (my FAV!!) from papertrey ink. To top it off I took a couple of the maya road trinket pins and colored them with copic marker R22 to match the berry sorbet. Works like a charm!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

bee happy with cps117

After being on a roll last weekend the week ended up being a busy one and I didn't get the cps 117 sketch done until last night. I have been dying to use this cosmo cricket girl friday paper that I have had on my desk for about a month and it paired nicely with the my cute stamps flowers. I also used the new papertrey ink background basics text style for a nice background in the circle. This is a must have set. It has three different fonts and it is the perfect size. I stamped bee happy over the text in smokey shadow ink and the bee was stamped with ripe avacado, cut out and adhered with a dimensional on top of the circle. I stamped the flower stems with ripe avacado stamped off once on a scrap and then inked with my spring moss ink and stamped on the vintage cream cardstock. The small flowers are stamped with sweet blush ink and the large flower I inked with hibiscus stamped off on a scrap and then inked with sweet blush and stamped onto the cardstock. I then used my favorite spellbinders die to cut it out and embossed the edge. While it was still in the die I airbrushed the top portion with my copic marker B01 "mint blue" and the bottom portion with YG93 "greenish yellow". I cut out a mat of the cosmo cricket paper (this is the back of the blue flower paper) with the next size die and matted the two together. Adhere it all together and add a couple of buttons and viola!! card is done!! Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

Raspberry Suite color challenge #7

Short posting today....Here's my card for Dawns color challenge #7. All products are from papertrey ink except for the martha stewart punch that I used for the butterflies. The flower image is from the with sympathy set.. I stamped the stems with spring moss and the flower part with raspberry fizz. The sentiment is from heartfelt basics and stamped with ripe avacado and raspberry fizz ink. I used spring moss cardstock for the base and raspberry fizz for the flower. I used my cuttlebug flower die to make the flower. The buttons are from the new spring moss assortment. I punched the butterflies from a scrap of ripe avacado. Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

card patterns sketch#16

I am totally on a roll!! I have not EVER in the history of MY cardmaking ever finished two sketches in one day!! Totally unheard of but I didn't do any thing for almost two weeks when I was sick so I must be in "catching up" mojo. I used the butterfly image from unity stamp co.'s april kit of the month. This was my first kit and I must say I love it!! Very impressed... I stamped the image with soft sage memories die ink, it totally matched the sage color in my wisteria paper from basic grey. I stamped the thinking of you strip from papertrey ink's "around and about sentiments" in the same sage ink on the top and bottom of the middle layer. I colored my flower trim with my copic marker "prune" bv02 to try and match with the purple in the paper. I distressed all the edges with my heidi swapp edge distress tool before I adheared it all together. I found the sage flower button in my aqua mist assortment from papertrey ink and added to the trim. I went over the butterflies with a clear spica pen to give it a little shimmer, it's hard to tell in the picture but is pretty in real life.
It's still early maybe I can get another project done today!!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

feel better with cps sketch #116

Yea!! I got another sketch done!! I think I'm on a roll... now if I could just get everyone to quit bugging me for awhile :) All supplies are papertrey ink except for the aqua polka dot paper which is from making memories. I used scattered showers for the umbrella, with sympathy for the stems and small flowers and the feel better is from mixed messages. The umbrella was stamped in hibiscus ink and cut out. I used a scrap of paper when I stamped my stems so they wouldn't be too long and then stamped the smallest flower in melon berry, hibiscus, aqua mist and sweet blush. I colored three small paper flowers (I think they are from doodlebug) to match my stamped ones just to give a little dimension to my umbrella "basket". I punched the butterflies with my martha stewart punch out of the making memories scraps and then added a row of hibiscus buttons. I stamped the sentiment in smokey shadow and punched out with my 3/4 " punch and just layered it over a flat button. I also used my heidi swapp distresser to rough up the edges a bit. I am so pleased at how this card turned out... I'm off to play some more... thanks for looking and have a great day!!

house of 3 meets card patterns sketch #15

Sorry I've been M.I.A. I was really SICK.... I hardly ever get sick so it really put me down. I even missed out on the sketch last week!! Yikes!! I finally felt up to par and made this card lickety split thanks to the House of 3 digital hello teacher kit. This is the cutest kit ever and at $6.00 you can create to your hearts desire. There are a bunch of options in the kit including pdf files... it is a great kit for all those teacher thank you's that are totally in order at this time of the year. I printed out the thank you panel in a wallet size, cut out and matted with a piece of black cardstock. The red and green polka dot sections are actually tags that come in the set that I printed as 4x6 and trimmed how much I wanted for each panel. I cut out an extra apple and used a dimensional to pop it up (you can't really see it in the picture). Added a yellow scalloped border and this awesome color green ribbon that I got at wal-mart and there you have a fast thank you card. I don't have any kids in school anymore but three of my best friends are teachers and I like to give them a little something for all their hard work. Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

cps sketch #114

Wow I actually got two cards done in one night!! It felt so good to just play for a change. Here is my take for the cps sketch #114. I used the cosmo cricket paper that was already on my desk... I love this paper.. it's from the little girls biography collection. My image is from the unity stamps April kit of the month... I joined the kit club mainly for this image!! I have been wanting a hand holding stamp but not one that I had to color too much.. and when I saw this one I had to have it and let me say I am impressed with the unity stamps! The whole kit is darling and I can't wait to get the May kit!! I colored the image with copics and matted it with a scalloped nestie. The sentiment is from the papertrey ink set "friends til the end" stamped in ripe avacado and sweet blush. I pierced above and below the sentiment to give it a little "something". The flower button is from stampin up. I inked around the edge of the vintage cream cardstock with vintage cream ink. I made this card for a friend for mothers day... not your ordinary mothers day card but it is prefect for her! It's a beautiful day today so I'm off to play outside!!! Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

cardpatterns#13

I feel like I have been running around with my head cut off the last couple of weeks! I really want to know where the time goes!! I realized today was Friday and I hadn't done my card patterns sketch for the week!! yikes!! so I took some time this afternoon and made a card for the sketch. It's a simple one but I love the way it turned out. The baby buggy is from my cute stamps. I love this set!! It is totally adorable and since I make a ton of baby cards it was a must have for me. I paper pieced it using cosmo cricket paper and punch it out in a circle. The patterned paper is a journaling block from the same paper pack. I punched a scalloped border from my apron lace punch from fiskars and adhered it under the journaling block. For the side layer I stamped a row of polka dot basics from papertrey ink with versamark ink and stitched above and under to make a border. I layered it all onto the melon berry cardstock and added a bitty dot melon berry ribbon and adhered the buggy on top with a dimensional. Stamped the sentiment in adirondak espresso ink, added some pearls and voila!! my card is done !! Whew just made it under the wire!! Hope you enjoy and have a great day!!
