card patterns sketch #20

Happy Thursday!! It is almost the weekend and I am looking forward to this weekend... not for any particular reason.. just to relax for a day or two, work in my yard (if it doesn't rain!!) and get ready for my yard sale in a couple of weeks.

Here is my take on the cardpatterns sketch this week and I really stretched it!! I didn't want to do the traditional scallops, so I cut out a bunch of curly frames on my cricut with the storybook cartridge and used them as my "scallops". As for the flower ma-gig, I used stamps from hero arts and stamped my floral image using stampin up's watercolor crayons. I was playing around with glitter the other day and had a bunch of these butterflies glitterfied, so thought I would used them on this card. I had a lot of fun making this card.. made me feel like I was back in art class!! I have all the details in the recipe below. I need to clean my stamp room now as there is glitter everywhere!!! I tried sooo hard to not make a mess too!!! I really think it is impossible to use glitter and not make a mess no matter how hard you try!!!

Anyway, Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

Raspberry Suite color challenge #10

Hi all!! I am so glad for another of Dawn's color challenges. These challenges really help me to get out of my "norm" and use colors that I might not use or think of putting together. I love all of these colors... I just never thought to pair melon berry with berry sorbet (papertrey ink colors). I needed a special card for a friend who is going thru a touch time and she loves these colors so with her in mind, here is my card. All supplies are from papertrey ink except for the pearls and pins (listed below). I colored my pearls and pins with myR22 copic marker to look like berry sorbet.
I also used my new favorite punch from fiskers called upper crest on the bottom of the card. I love this punch and I got mine here. I die cut the flowers from my cuttlebug flower dies. Well the grandkids are here so got to go.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

All supplies papertrey ink unless otherwise noted.

ink: dark chocolate, vintage cream

I can't believe it has been a week since I last posted!! Between helping my man out in our business, bulletin boards at church, grandkids' birthday parties and just being pooped, the time just slipped by!! I do have my granddaughters birthday invite to share today and tomorrow a sketch or two and of course Dawn's color challenge.. so stay tuned. I am trying to find time to get some blog candy together so bear with me.
Here is the invite. I wanted to make it simple, girly and I wanted to use bright colors.

I just made a basic pocket card with the actual invite on a separate piece of paper that slides out. I only had to make 15 of these so it went fairly quick. All the details are in the recipe below.

Raspberry Suite color challenge #9

Here is my take on Dawn's raspberry suite color challenge #9. This one was so hard for me because of the "grass green" (new leaf). I really have trouble with this particular color. I decided to take the minimalist approach and use the cream color as my main color and the new leaf and black as my accents. Sorry for the bad picture.... my camera is on the blink and it took me over an hour just to get a decent picture. I guess I will be in the camera shopping business sooner than later. I will try again in the morning and see if I have better luck.

I used vintage cream card stock and ran it thru my cuttlebug with the damask embossing folder. I stamped the main image in new leaf and cut it out with the petite oval nesties and matted the image with black cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in true black, punched out and matted on a black punch oval. The ribbon is the new leaf bitty dots from papertrey ink as is the button slide. I added pearls to the center of the little flowers to give it a little pop.

I'm off to go investigate the camera options...

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

stamps: basic grey urban prairie line, wishing you from papertrey ink
ink: new leaf, true black (papertrey ink)
cardstock: vintage cream & true black ( papertrey ink)
ribbon: new leaf bitty dots ( papaertrey ink)
buttons: newleaf (papertrey ink)
pearls: hero arts

just a random card

We have a huge thunderstorm coming in so I have just a short post to share a simple card that I made a few months ago. I made this for one of the challenges during the papertrey ink anniversary in February. This card is posted in my pti gallery. All supplies are papertrey ink. The colors are raspberry fizz, ripe avacado, dark chocolate and white. I used the flower frenzy and around and about sets.

I also want to thank you all for the kind comments regarding my card for Dawn's raspberry suite color challenge#8. Ya'll are so sweet.. I don't know how to respond to each comment... I'm a little slow when it comes to tech stuff!! :) I was a little shocked that my card was chosen for the spotlight.. I played with that card all day and I couldn't seem to get it right so I told myself " look, Lisa you are just PLAYING here okay? so slap that baby together and get on with it!!! Then it get's chosen!! Weird how that happens!! Any way I was honored and I do really appreciate Dawn's color challenges.. it totally gets my out of my comfort zone..

Gotta go before the storm hits..

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!!

card patterns sketch #18

Hi all!! Here is my card patterns sketch for the week. I flipped it once again.. mainly because I wanted to use this image that I received from unity stamp co. the other day. I love birdcage stamps and this one is so cute. I decided to spotlight the bird.. I stamped two and punched one out with a circle punch (the square looks good too) and matted it with a slightly larger circle, colored the bird with a mix of my copics and colored pencils and sponged around the edge with sweet blush and then mounted the punched image over the main image. I used a spring moss ribbon mainly because I wanted a little more color and there is a tad bit of the green in one of the papers I used. The rest of the deets are in the recipe below.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

Stamps: sweet zzz's from unity stamp co., a little birdie sentiment (birds of a feather, papertreyink)

ink: sweet blush, dark chocolate (papertrey ink)
cardstock: vintage cream (papertrey ink)
patterned paper: my mind eye, sei
ribbon: spring moss (papertrey ink)
pearls: mellisa frances, hero arts
other: diamond stickles, copics, colored pencils

Raspberry Suite color challenge #8

This is actually a graduation card for a friends daughter and these are her fav colors!! Not your typical grad card but I love the take flight saying and I think it really pertains to a
graduation. I had to use this hero arts background stamp that I have had for awhile and just haven't used yet. It is beautiful! The deets are below in the recipe.

mojo monday 89

Here is my take for the mojo monday #89 sketch. I got some new papers from collage press and I had to use it. It is from the sweet shoppe line called "YUM" and I definitely think it's "YUM". I was in a raspberry fizz kind of mood and when I saw the yum paper I knew it would be perfect. I stamped my image ( unity stamp co. may KOTM) in raspberry fizz ink on vintage vanilla cardstock (both papertrey ink). I cut mine out using my square nestibilities and sponged the edges lightly with dark chocolate ink. I cut out a square of raspberry fizz cardstock and lightly sponged the edges with dark chocolate and then matted the stamped image onto the raspberry fizz cardstock. I stamped the text style background basics in vintage cream onto a kiwi kiss piece of cardstock and sponged around the edges. I matted the patterned paper and the kiwi kiss together just at the edge and then wrapped a dark chocolate ribbon around. Mat to a vintage cream card. I stamped happy birthday from the around and about sentiment set on to a piece of vintage cream cs stamped with the text image in spring moss.. punch out and then mat on a ripe avacado circle. I made the flower from a cuttlebug flower die (2 layers) roughed it up a bit, added a pearl and adhered it to the center of the flower. For the finishing touch I went over the image with diamond stickles to give it a little sparkle.
Thanks for looking and have a great day!!
