anything but a square card

Hi all!! I just wanted to post a card I did that is featured on the cards blog for the anything but a square or rectangle challenge. I had about 1 hour to make and post this card before the deadline so I didn't get to original here. Used the spellbinders butterfly die to cut out the butterfly and then quickly stamped the leaf swirl and added ribbon and flowers. Seriously it took me more time to photograph and post than it did to make ..... like less that 10 minutes!!!! I have seen these butterflies used as cards before but never got around to making one until last night... FUN!!

I'm off to bed... Thanks for looking!!

papertrey ink blog hop

It's time for another Papertrey ink blog hop!! This month's theme is Design Team Appreciation Day!!! You are to pick a DT member and one of their creations that is an inspiration to you. That is totally a hard call because as far as I am concerned PTI has the best design team around and which one do you pick????:)
So when I saw this card from Betsy I fell in love!! The colors are so awesome and a combo I have not tried before and those leaves from the take three spring set... well let me just say it was this card that sold me on the set........

I mean is this card lucious or what?! I could stare at it for hours!

So this is what I came up with using Betsy's card as inspiration.......

I had to do those little scalloped blocks with the leaves.... I am in love with them!!! I cut out a ton of the scalloped squares just so I can stamp a bunch of these in a myriad of colors!!!

Thank you PTI Design Team... You are the Best!!!:)

Have fun at the hop........

compose a card #5

Sorry I've been MIA this last week... I've had my granddaughters and doing taxes... fun times:)

So here is this weeks compose a card by Becky................

And here is my take..........

I was really surprised at how this card turned out... mainly because of the red !!:) I think I might be warmin' to the color a bit!! I used the new stamps I got this week from Papertrey ink's last release .... dot spot (yum!),
take three: spring & the sentiment is from butterfly dreams.
I just want to say that I am really likin' these compose a card challenges. Becky basically does all the work for you.... cut your cardstock to the sizes provided, keep to the colors and embellishments and make your card! Simple! I even made it to the top 3 last week (shocker!!) even with my bad pictures (I am working on it!!).
Well I need to go get something done before my girls come over.....
As always thanks for looking and have a great day!!

cps 154

Short & sweet today. Thought I'd play again this week with the card positioning systems sketch #154. This is what I came up with.........

I was wanting to use up a few scraps so thought this sketch was perfect. I used blooming button bits for my focal point. Love, love, love this set!! I used the color combo vintage cream, melon berry, spring moss and a little kraft. I turned the sentiment on the block to make it curved. Inked the edges with chamomile ink from the tea dye duo.
I've got to.... thanks for looking and have a great day!!

compose a card #4

I was lurking the other day at the Papertrey ink's forum and the thread I was looking at was talking about the new challenge that Becky Ohlers started called compose a card so I thought this week I would play along. So I go on over to Becky's blog to check it out and this is what I find.........

Okay no big deal.... true black....check, ripe avocado ....check, white.... check, vintage button... check, satin ribbon.... check, negative/reverse stamp... umm - no. Can you believe I don't own a negative/ reverse stamp!!??!  So what  am I going to do?  I say to myself....  Fake it :)  So shhhhh don't tell Becky that that is not an awesome in bloom negative/reverse stamp stamped in true black.... it's our secret.... I don't think she'll notice... okay??:)
So this is what I came up with.........

I am really not sure if I know the rules to this compose a card challenge. I am probably disqualifying myself  for
 not having a negative/reverse stamp.

I guess I just wanted to do my own twist and seen as how I already disqualified myself I just played with it.
This color combo was new to me because ..well.. there is no pink...and no aqua mist.....and no spring moss:)
Actually it was good for me to get out of my box a bit. I did one of those layered butterflies that I have been seeing lately and I used my stain ribbon for the butterfly trail.... ummm it is a little thicker that your average butterfly trail but hey I was just playing around!! We are talking a bit of whimsy here!! I just twisted & turned & glued down here and there to make it.  I used my button for an accent on the butterfly. I also just realized that this is the first long card I have ever made!!! Wow I am really coming out of the box tonight!!!
So anyway I tried and Thanks Becky for a new take on challenges.... I think I really like it!!

As always.... Thanks for looking and have a great day!!!

moxie fab tuesday trigger

It's time for another Tuesday trigger!!  This weeks trigger was this luscious candy bar picture courtesy of Julie Masse.
I am totally lovin all that pink goodness!! Here is what I came up with...........

I wish I would have had more time this week to play but I managed to come up with this pink concoction to add to the mix. I used the new silk ribbon from papertrey ink to wrap around my card. Let me say that this ribbon is perfect for this sort of thing. I used sweet blush, hibiscus & raspberry fizz  card stock for the hearts and then glittered 'em up. The smooches is from the say it in style and is stamped in hibiscus as is the petal power background.
Well I'm off to the next paper craftin' project!!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

cps 153

This weeks card positioning systems sketch is sponsored by papertrey ink so you know I had to play along.
Here is my take........

I used all papertrey ink goodness once again and kept it sweet & simple. I am such a pink girl and when Nichole did her leaves in pink on one of the sneaks this last week I had to try it. I LOVE pink leaves!!! I will definitely be doing this more.
I am off to clean up my mess...
As always thanks for looking and have a great day!!

papertrey ink's Dt Favorites Color Challenge

It's day 9 of the Papertrey ink third anniversary celebration and the contest for today is another color challenge. The challenge is to pick one the favorite colors of the design team. I picked Debbie's colors mainly because these are my very fav right now. Love, love, love berry sorbet, aqua mist and spring moss together.
This is what I came up with..........

The blooming button bits set is one of my very favorites and I just loved how Betsy pierced the inside of her flower that she did a week or so ago so I had to try it. It really does give it that little extra something. I used the petal power for the background on the berry sorbet card..... love the petal power!!!!
I am off to finish up my cps sketch so I'll catch you later.....

papertrey ink paint by numbers challenge

Here it is day eight in the papertrey ink third anniversary celebration! Every day has been exciting as there has been new product announcements, contests & challenges. The latest challenge is the paint by numbers challenge. You are to make a card using the sketch provided and your assigned palette which goes by the beginning letter of your pti username.   Since my user name starts with an "L" this is my palette...........

and this is what I came up with.........

I must admit that the terracotta tile thru me off a bit but I think I managed it okay. Once I got going it was hard to just settle on one design!! I ended up making a few cards with this color combo... I think I like it!
In the photo my raspberry fizz looks more hibiscus... don't know what happened there... but irl it is definitely raspberry fizz!
Hope you all play with this challenge too.... it really was alot of fun!!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

papertrey ink emboss resist challenge

Second post for the day..... I know...SHOCKER!!!

Well I had to play along with this challenge. I haven't used the emboss resist technique for awhile so this was good to dust off the ole' heat gun:)
This is what I came up with........

This card turned out a little brighter than I expected...
I stamped the text background in smokey shadow on vintage cream card stock. I then stamped the damask image in versa mark and used clear embossing powder. I inked over it with hibiscus ink. I stamped the leaves from turning a new leaf  in new leaf, cut out and clear embossed to give it shine. The sentiment is from the through the trees set. The ribbon is the new silk ribbon from papertrey... I just colored over it with one of my copic markers to best match the color of the hibiscus. The punch is everfervance (not sure if I spelled that right!!) from fiskars. The butterflies are Martha's!
Go on over to Nichole's blog to check out the challenge.

Have a great day!

lovey-dovey challenge

Happy Friday!! Here is my submission for the challenge that was issued on the cards blog last week. The challenge was to make a lovey-dovey card but not to use red or pink. At first I was like "how am I supposed to make a lovey card with out pink??"  Who cares about red because those of you that have been reading my blog for awhile know that red is not my favorite color :) So I had these love birds ready to go and thought "lets try aqua and spring moss and see what happens." And this card is what happened!! The only thing that I don't really like about it is the ink distressing on the edge. I should of just left it. Oh well,, you just never know if you're not going to like it until you do it, right?
so once again I used all papertrey ink goodness except for the heart pins which are making memories. I used four different stamp sets with this one ... christmas friends for the birds.. I mean aren't those just the cutest birds ever!! They are the only reason I even bought the set! The scroll is from the vintage labels set, the sentiment from the simple valentine set and the background is the diamonds. I punch the heart from martha's heart punch out of october afternoon paper and glittered it up. And yes I am having fun with my glitter
lately :)

Bye for now...

pti valentine swap

Hi-ya all! Just wanted to pop in from my busi-ness to post a card I did for Ingrid on the papertrey ink forum's valentine swap. I was so glad that Ingrid took a picture as I was so excited to get it in the mail I forgot to take one!!
Everything is from papertrey ink. I even used the new petal power for the pink background paper. I think it is going to be a go to background for me for awhile:)
I'm off to try and finish up a card I am doing for this weeks challenge over on the cards blog.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!!!

moxie fab tuesday trigger

Hello all! I was excited this week because Cath is back from CHA and we have a new Tuesday Trigger to play with .........

Cute, wouldn't you say? So here is my take.....

I was obviously in a glitter kind a mood when making this :) I used a rectangle spellbinders die to emboss the middle of the card. Then I applied score-tape around the outside edge and added prisma glitter. I used a heart punch from stampin up and punched out a few hearts from some october afternoon scraps. The scroll-y thing in the middle is from papertrey ink's vintage labels set, stamped with a glue pad and glittered. The sentiment is from the heart prints sentiments set and stamped in pure poppy.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!!
